Spiritual Related Discussions on Good News Bible| What version of the Bible do you prefer to read? | | There are so many different versions nowadays to choose from when going to purchase a Bible. I was wondering what was the more popular version and why? I used to have a King James Bible, but in recent years I have also liked the New King James Version, and the American Standard Version, I have found it easier to read and comprehend. I don't personally care for the NIV or Living Bible, but that is a personal choice. I found too many differences in scripture when my kids and I would compare. But I know many others who do enjoy these Bibles and prefer them. Please if you don't mind sharing with me, what is your favorite and why? | |
| | Love, what is it? | | Personally, this is my favorite topic of all. why, because it's the most easy yet complex subject matter. We cam talk about love in a psychological aspect, emotional aspect, abstract way and many more approach of love. But what is it really?
I have found out that LOve falls to one thing only. SACRIFICE. When you TRUELY LOVE, you do some sacrifices. It doesn't mean that you won't be happy because love let's us feel we're on top of the world. It gives us smiles in our face. But there's a twist in that, it does not only makes us feel good but it also makes us feel bad, hurt and pain. It's absolutely normal. We should not be alarmed and lose hope because love does lifts us up where we belong. And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."This is the command Jesus gave before He ascended into heaven. I started wondering how I could personally apply this to my life.We know that to everyone who does God's will, He will say, "Well done, good and faithful servant."But if we aren't doing anything, He can't say "Well done". And we all want to hear those words, because they are said to those who get into heaven. So how can we practically apply this verse (to preach the gospel) to our own lives?Obviously not everyone will be called by God to go to the ends of the earth, but everyone has a part. Someone may be called to go, someone else to help them go, and someone else to pray for them as they go. We each can proclaim the gospel by our lives. We can live the gospel and offer hope to everyone around us. Sometimes just a smile coming from the hope inside will be used by God to give hope to someone. We can offer encouragement from Scripture to anyone who needs hope. So what are your ideas on how you plan to practically apply this command to your life? | | Good news | | I wanted to share this before signing out tonight. My son will getting tested for giftedness in both reading and math.[em]happy[/em]I am nervous because on the paper I had to sign, it said something about interviewing the caregiver, which would be me. Makes me wonder what kind of questions I will be asked??? Does anyone have a clue? Because I'd like to be prepared for what they want to know..I knew he was good in math. He asked about multiplication before his teacher started teaching it in her class. He is also is in a special reading class with harder reading and spelling words. I didn't realize how hard until after I signed the paper for his testing and saw his words for this week. He has words I can't spell, at least not without studying the words for a while. He is in second grade and here are his 5 challenge words. I only tried the first one and misspelled it before I gave up.
