Spiritual Related Discussions on How To Win Friends and Influence People| How to win friends and influence people, p.1 | | Hi all, My name is CJscott. I wanted to talk to you today about a book I am reading called How To Win Friends and Influence People. It was written in the 1930's by a fellow the name of Dale Carnegie. I have read the first two chapters so far, and I have decided that I am going to share my insights and some quotes from the book. I truly hope that we can get a good discussion going on it. My plan is to read each chapter quick, get a good look at what I intend to learn, then re read it with my note pad handy, then share what I learned here, then move on to the next chapter. I have already read the first chapter so I am going to start their, and being a lover of all things sweet, the chapter heading really made me smile. "If you want to gather honey, don't kick over the beehive"From their it goes on to tell some stories of how, being nicer to people gets you better results then being mean to people. One of my favorite lines was "People rewarded for good behavior learn faster, and retain more then efficiently, then those punished for bad behavior"It says, that by being polite, and offering sincere appreciation the people in your life, be...

But, do not mistake this with flattery which is dishonest. Think of the other person, before you lash out at them, look at things from their point of view, try your best to be empathetic. What would you, yourself do if you were in their position. Even if you would never be in their position, how do you think you would handle the situation. Benjamin Franklin once said his secret to dealing with people was that "I will speak ill of no man, and speak all the good I know of everybody" It seems that former US President, best known as Honest Abe, learned the hard way, to be polite to others. Got challenged to a duel over article he submitted to a paper criticizing a lawyer...I also learned that he died...

People effect your business and personal life? Have you read
the book? Many managers and executives claim that this book

the sound of his own name"; which has led me to my recent
development of "self personalizing" websites that extract

| | What is number one on your list of favorite books? | | I have been completely swamped with work this semester in school and working two part time jobs and everything and now that the school year has finally ended I want to READ. And I don't mean those boring books that they force you to read in class. I mean I want to read something for myself, not because I would rather not fail a class that I'm paying thousands of dollars to take.
The only trouble is, I've been so out of touch with the world in the past year or so of school that I have almost no idea what new books are out and what's going on in the world of literature (except for Twilight, which I am intentionally avoiding for lack of interest of sparkly vampires).
So I was hoping that you could list some of your favorite books. Go ahead and list as many as you'd like, I've got the whole summer to catch up on reading (and I do indeed plan on catching up). I like just about all genres except for horror.:)
| | Give Compliments=) | | Some people notice the BEAUTIFUL view.
Some people notice only the DIRTY window!Your happiness depends on what you DECIDE to notice. So here's today's exercise:
Step 1: Look for ONE QUALITY in every person you meet.
Stepo 2: Give them a COMPLIMENT . . ."That is a stunning outfit!"
"You are an inspiring teacher."
"You have a beautiful smile!"Remember, a compliment is NOT flattery!
Flattery is insincere.
A compliment is SINCERE RECOGNITION of someone's qualities. Most people feel UNDER-APPRECIATED!
When you give them compliments, you light up their day.And here's the bonus:To pay compliments, you have to focus on the positive.
So it makes YOU happier!:)---------------------------------------
