I heard Kobe Bryant, the NBA superstar from Los Angeles, say that Jonathan Livingston Seagull inspired him to become the person that he is now. JLSeagull was a book I enjoyed much as a teen-ager. I admit though that I had not reread the book for a long, long time. Still, with Kobe referring to the plight that Jonathan took, I do remember the lesson the story sends - there must be a will to overcome the obstacles, if one desire to achieve greatness. Are you like Jonathan and Kobe too?
I have been reading Tuesdays with Morrie and I'm glad to say that tonight I will be finishing the book. Its a book about life and how to live it. A book worth reading and really an eye opener for those people who concentrate their life on less important things. I'd like to think of the next book I'm gonna read after reading Tuesdays. Would you recommend anything that would be worth my time? Thanks!
and over again? Please, not the Bible. I'm talking works of fiction.I've read the Swiss Family Robinson about a dozen times and will probably continue reading it over again every couple of years until the day I die.

As I stated in my previous post, I am trying to start a letter writing campaign to have Neil Diamond FINALLY inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is the letter I will be mailing to them tomorrow morning. To Whom It May Concern:I would like to call to your attention the glaring omission of an amazingly talented singer/songwriter from the Hall of Fame to date. Neil Diamond has been part of the American music scene since the 1960s, and he continues to be popular today. This is a career which spans five decades, and deserves to be recognized by your foundation.Let me draw your attention to just a few of Neil's career achievement:1) He has sold over 125 million albums worldwide.
2) He has scored 36 Top 40 hits.
3) He won a Grammy Award for the soundtrack from Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
4) He won a Golden Globe Award for best original score, also for Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

What is/are your favorite book/s? How does it influence your thinking and your life's attitude in general? My favorite book is "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" It taught me that there is more to life than going through the drudgery of just making a living and pursuing our personal satisfaction. There is a higher meaning, a higher calling. Its message is that we should do our best to attain perfection, be it mastery of a certain skill, or doing our best, obeying God's commands to be perfect in His Eyes.
I'd be Jonathan Livingston Seagull. He's not afraid to be different and fights for what he believes in. He also pushes himself to try his best and gives whatever he does (particularly flying) what he's got. He's also really passionate about living, not just existing.
I was wondering about what and who shape our life. We come across so many people, books etc and they do influence us. But some have profound effect.
It canm be mother, father, teacher, friend, some celebrity, some historical figure, sportsmen, books etc.
I have been greatly influenced by my mother, many teachers, few books like Bhagvad Gita, Atlas Shrugged, Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
Personalities like Tiger Woods, Amitabh Bachhan, Mahatma Gandhi, Adam Smith.
There may be few who have influenced you. It will be nice to know.
