However, why is it emphasised that Jesus, the young but ardent religious preacher from Nazareth, was a descendant of David, when he is not considered Joseph's biological son? For, only Joseph - and not Mary - is the descendant of David.
But in all scripture there is a reference that he was a descendant of David, and in the Bible, inMatthew in particular, the lineage is drawn up connecting Joseph the carpenter to David, and not Mary.
Is this one of the inconsistencies riddled in the Holy Bible?

A Canadian filmmaker and author claims to have new scientific evidence that could have profound implications for Christianity.
Simcha Jacobovici, from Toronto, is expected to reveal at a news conference in New York on Monday that a tomb he explored under a Jerusalem apartment building once contained the bones of Jesus of Nazareth and his family.
Further, he suggested that the tomb, stored in a warehouse belonging to the Israel Antiquity Authority outside Jerusalem, may contain microscopic remains of the Christian saviour's DNA.
If so, this would be the first archaeological evidence of the existence of Jesus -- and his family."It's mind boggling. It's an altered reality," Jacobovici told the Toronto Star newspaper ahead of the release of his feature documentary film and book, both titled "The Lost Tomb of Jesus.""You have to kind of pinch yourself," he said. Last year, my Mom and I took a vacation to South Dakota for my uncle's 90th birthday party. SD is about a two-day drive from where we live (New Mexico). We decided to stop in Mission, SD, on the way up to my uncle's and to deliver clothes, accessories, blankets, pillows, etc. to a mission in Mission. We could have donated the clothes locally to Goodwill, the Salvation Army, etc., but we just decided we wanted to help the Lakota Sioux. Erap had been the 13th president of our country but has only served 2 out of 6 years because he was proven guilty of perjury and plunder. Perjury is willfully giving incomplete, misleading or simple false testimony while under oath; and plunder means stealing good and other valuable things. He was arrested- house arest, which really sucks, he didn't get what he deserved and he's even given a pardon...
But why is he still allowed to run for presidency? He should be banned from it,but no law states that he can't run- too bad. And to make things worse some people would still want to vote for him.... You may remember Joseph Cao, who represents New Orleans, the only Republican who voted for the House health care bill in November. At the time he said he felt compelled to do what his constituents wanted and NEEDED. He's the first Republican to represent that district in many years and replaced the Democrat whose claim to fame was $90,000 found in his freezer. You may also recall that he'd voted for the Bart Stupak anti-choice amendment as well. As it turns out he really doesn't much care what his constituents want or need after all. He announced tonight that he'll be against the bill tomorrow, reportedly based mostly on the abortion issue. We've all heard and read and many of us have said these past few months that our lawmakers "work for us" and that they're suppose to vote the way WE want them to vote. Here we have a Republican in a heavily Democratic district which heavily FAVORS the health care bill who is going to vote his own conscience instead of the will of the people.What do you think - is he wrong?
