I am looking for several good study bibles for my family. My dog chewed up the binding of my bible about two years ago, and it is too much to handle - bible study takes way too long because I have to handle it so carefully. It is a master study bible and I liked it very much. My husband does not need a bible, but I and my four kids need new ones. I want us to all have KJV versions. I am thinking about buying a Life Application bible for my 13 year old son, but I have no idea what to buy for my girls (ages 7 & 9). I also have a 4 1/2 year old son - should I even bother to buy him one? Or should I just buy (or print) bible based coloring books for him? Do you have any suggestions for good KJV study bibles for us?
Do you have a version of the Bible that you prefer to use or read from? Do you use the same one your church uses?
My church uses the New International Version. Mine happens to be the New American Standard. Mine, also, is a Life Application Bible..it has notes and explainations of the many of the verses and chapters, as well as info on the writers. I find that while there are a few differences in wording between the two, I am able to follow along with no problems. When I go to Bible Study I am the only one with the NAS, so sometimes they will ask me to read the passage we are studying from mine, just to see what the text differences are.My husband is a die hard King James reader. I bought him a copy of the NIV, as he has recently started going to my church. He said it will take some getting used to. A friend from church suggested he get a parallel bible..that has the KJB and NIV side by side on each page. She is going to let Rick borrow hers, to see if he likes it before he buys his own.
Have you ever heard that the bible is the most practical life application book of all time! I have a plaque in my house that says.......... Best........................

I agree!...................................
How many people on mylot have read the bible and would agree that it indeed has the best information to help you live the best life possible here on earth?
The reason I ask is that there are a lot of, not so smart people out there that spent a lot of $$$ and an education that have no real life application.something like this:engineers that flip burgers and thugs that have empires.what do you think?????
