Homosexuality and Christianity
I found this inspiring article today during my hour of learning And I thought it would be good to share with all my Christian and non Christian Friends here and else whereI would welcome your thoughts at the end pleaseJonathon and David A Biblical Account of a Same Gender Marriage A Sermon by Pastor John © June 1998 updated 8-5-2006 Welcome to Lavender Road Metropolitan Community Church!Through scriptures, synagogues, churches, books and movies the fame of King David has been widely proclaimed. And rightly so! David was a passionate and powerful person whose zeal for life was only surpassed by his devotion to God and his unmistakable humanity. In David we see how a fallen human being with obvious imperfections can become one of God's most useful and respected servants. If David can do it, so can we!Because of his love for God and country, David boldly slew the giant Philistine Goliath and performed many other Herculean acts. He spared the life of King Saul, despite Saul's intent to destroy him. He valiantly led the armies of Israel against all her enemies.David was also the most famous ancestor of Jesus the Christ. Our Savior...
Homosexuality and God
Does God really consider homosexuality wrong or are we seeing things the way we want to see them? Read this and see what you think:Leviticus 18:22 Some English translations of this verse are:* KJV: (King James Version):Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination* LB: (Living Bible):Homosexuality is absolutely forbidden, for it is an enormous sin* NIV: (New International Version)Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable* NLT: (New Living Translation):Do not practice homosexuality; it is a detestable sin* RSV: (Revised Standard Version):You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination One source (4) makes a word-for-word translation of this verse from the original Hebrew as:And with a male thou shalt not lie down in beds of a woman; it is an abomination. In modern day English this could be translated as:Men may not engage in homosexual sex while on a woman’s bed; it is an abomination That is, "rather than forbidding male homosexuality, it simply restricts where it may occur." This may seem a strange...
The concept of trinity does not exist in the Bible. See the references below?
The concept of trinity does not exist in the Bible. The only verse which is closest to the concept of ‘trinity’, is the 1st Epistle of John, Chapter No.5, Verse No.7, which says… ‘For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the word and the holy ghost, and these 3 are one. But if you read the Revised Standard Version, revised by 32 scholars… Christian scholars, of the highest eminence, backed by 50 different co-operative denominations, they say… ‘This verse of the Bible - 1st Epistle of John, Chapter 5 Verse No.7 is an interpolation, is a concoction, is a fabrication’ - It was thrown out of the Bible. Jesus Christ peace be upon him, never claimed Divinity. There is not a single unequivocal statement in the complete Bible, where Jesus Christ peace be upon him says… ‘I am God’ - or where he says… ‘Worship me’. Infect if you read the Bible, it is mentioned in the Gospel of John, Chapter No.14, Verse No.28 - he said…‘My Father is greater than I’; Gospel of John, Chapter No.10, Verse No.29…‘My Father is greater than all’; Gospel of Mathew, Chapter No.12, Verse No.28…‘I cast out devils with the spirit of God’; Gospel of Luke, Chapter No.11, Verse No.20…‘I with the finger...
Noah´s ark confirmed thorugh Greek and Sumerian legends.
A poster was recently refuting Noah´s arc by comparing it to other like legends and comparing to ships of their eras when I dug out the Bible and Q´ran and noticed two things-1) The ark was uncomparable with ANY ship ever made. ------------------------------------------------------ Both the Bible and the Q´ran stressed that no vessel like it has existed before, and Sura 11:41 says: "And he (Allah) said, 'Ride ye in it; in the Name of God it moves and stays!", it was under the command of god, and under his control. So it was a one-of-a-kind vessel, which had never been buolt before, controlled by god.2) Noah (nuh) predates civilizations. -------------------------------We Muslims date Nuh(noah)´s ark as something happening before the first civilizations appeared, Muhammad (PBUH) said: "The period between Adam and Nuh was ten centuries." (Sahih Bukhari). According to Genesis 5 (new Revised Standard Version), Nuh (Noah) was born 126 years after the death of Adam. (although one of the popular Muslim view is that Muhammed meant Adam´s time=his creation, thus the Bible isnt invalidated at all). Now for the sake of fairness, I will take "Adam´s death" as the time the...
What Versions of the Holy Bible Have You Read?
As of January 25, 2010 I will have been a born-again Christian for 40 years. I am a minister of the Gospel. I am curious to see what versions of the Holy Bible you have read. By "have read" I do not mean you have read the whole Holy Bible in that version, but at least enough to get an opinion of it. Here is my list.KIng James, New King James, New International Version, Revised Standard, Douay Rheims, Today's English Version, the New English Bible, New World Translation, New American Standard, Phillips (NT only of course), Jerusalem, CEV and I'm sure there are some I have missed.Of this list my favorites are NKJV and KJV. I used to like the NIV, but then I discovered some incorrect translations in the NT. I am in no way versed in Greek, but I have tools here to find out what the Greek text says.
What version of Bible do you read
I grew up with the Kings James Version and when the new versions came out, I started with the Revised Standard and then went to the NIV. Now going through the internet, I learned the history of how these versions came about and that in some it gave a warning that "Not all --* meaning that certain parts were supposedly added later. Now logic dictates that when something is read over and over again, it deteriorates and so they have to recopy it, so that when it appears new, it is not really an original but a copy of the original. So in the Kings James Version, if everyone read the manuscript(s) on what it is based on, they will have to copy the manuscript(s) because the letters and words on the first one were fading because of so many fingers and handling. This the proponents of the RSV, NIV, and other versions failed to consider. What is your opinion and what version of the Bible do you read? I read the King James Version.
