Spiritual Related Discussions on The Road Less Traveled| The road less traveled | | Greetings,I have always been "different." I guess I have a different view of the world. Perhaps it is because I am blessed with ADD. I know, most people wouldn't concider having attention deficit disorder a blessing but I do.
You see, I don't, by nature, pay a whole lot of attention to things. Stuff that bothers others, like the news and such, just don't mean anything to me. I don't read newspapers and I barely look at news online.
I guess I just worry about things that directly affect me. If some idiot, half a world away, wants to cause problems, well, how in the heck does that affect me. I have heard tons of arguements why we(the United States) should be in Iraq but I just don't get it. What did Saddam ever do to us??? Nothing that I know of.
The same thing applies to Cuba. We refuse to ship products to Cuba, we condemn their leadership, heck we even refused aid that was offered after Katrina. Why??? So Fidel almost let some missles into Cuba how many years ago??? Duh ... that was Russia asking. What was he supposed to do ... say no??? I am sure not all countries that have our missles placed there are thrilled about it. Kind of makes you think.
Anyway, I am getting...

| | Letters From An All Too Familiar World: The Beginning | | December 15, 2005 -This entry starts the turn of a page in my life, to further my understanding of my life and the life of a man I once called "Dad." This, which I am about to show you is a compilation of letters written by the hand, and led by the heart of Mr. Douglas Howard Brooks. Written for mine eyes only, however, addressed to my younger brother as well, in my fathers hope that my brother, Daniel, would read and understand. two years after the passing of my father, I now know Daniel will never understand, although read these letters. Emotional strength is my ally right now, so bear with me as I compose something never done before with these body parts...
"A Collection of Letters written by Douglas Howard Brooks," rewritten by daughter and friend, Allyson Katherine Brooks. I warn you now, many things will be repeated in the general sense, however, separate and at different times. The road less traveled will now become a superhighway. All letters are in chronological order...
| | difficult life | | About 12 year ago, i bought a book called "the road less traveled" by scott m peck. The opening line of the book is....."life is difficult".I hated that line,it made me so angry that i did'nt read any further and put the book away.i did not want to accept that statement .i want to live with the illusion that life should be fun and easy,
Well ......some five years later and being forced to face life's difficulties, feeling disillusioned, coming to term's with life harsh realities....i picked up the book again this time around it made a whole lot of sense. i could 'hear' what the author was saying......because i was open to listen, iwas no longer delusional,:-) s. | | When You Fall In Love | | This is a nice article and I would like to share it to all of you guys and girls out there. What do you think? When You FALL IN LOVE (Debunking the Myths That Are Driving You Crazy)
By: Bo SanchezThis article isn't for teenagers only.Falling in love happens to the young and the not-so-young. (Did you see 42-year-old Tom Cruise jump up and down Oprah's couch because of Katie?)
It happens to everyone. Fat, thin, tall, short, intelligent, uneducated, holy, not so holy, dark, white, yellow, green... it doesn't really matter.
All of us fall in love.
And we get stuck in myths that drive us absolutely crazy.
My goal is to debunk these myths and convince you not to believe in them.
Let's begin....... ...MYTH 1: LOVE WILL CONQUER ALLLet me qualify.
This is such a tricky myth. Because love ----- as defined by the Bible ------ will conquer all. But love ------ as defined by glazed-eyed lovers ----- will not.If you believe in this myth, you might do the following:You overlook major obstacles in your relationship.Everyone you know is wondering why you chose that creature from outer space as your boyfriend. Your bestfriends are telling you to get rid of...

Live each day as if its your last. leave the past behing and do not anicipate the future. Be present to enjoy the moment. be adventurious, explore, live on the edge a little and embrace new challenges. Try something new every day. Experience the variety in life. Take the road less traveled. Record your accomplishment as well as your delights. Take time to reflect on what has been previously written. Be an inspiration to yourself and others. Love yourself, focus on your inner and outer beauty to see the same in others. Acceptable comes from within. by glazed-eyed lovers ----- will not.If you believe in this myth, you might do the following:You overlook major obstacles in your relationship.Everyone you know is wondering why you chose that creature from outer space as your boyfriend. Your bestfriends are telling you to get rid of him. Your family is telling you to throw him out of a running vehicle. Aling Rosa of the sari-sari store across the street is telling you to lace his drink with poison.
But you won't --------- because you're in love. That's why...
| | Do You Believe Exorcisms are Real? | | i have been reading about exorcisms for the past month, if you have heard about m. scott peck, the national best selling writer of the road less traveled, he actually recommended that if you are interested to read about this phenomenon, no one describes it in detail better than malachi does. if anything, scott peck is definitely a skeptic. but he recommended this book. hostage to the devil by malachi martin. incredibly compelling by the way. and i was just wondering, what do the norm think about this? the devil and such. particularly on possession. have you had any experiences with a possessed person? have you heard of such? do you believe in it? or simply dont? by glazed-eyed lovers ----- will not.If you believe in this myth, you might do the following:You overlook major obstacles in your relationship.Everyone you know is wondering why you chose that creature from outer space as your boyfriend. | | Are You a Jew, a New Ager or a Christian? | | I'll begin this discussion with a story re-told by M. Scott Peck in his book, "Further Along the Road Less Traveled", which illustrates perfectly the difference between faithful Jews and Christians, and the New Age philosophy, which has its origins in Eastern philosophy:Three ministers, a Catholic priest, a Jewish rabbi, and a New Age minister were all sent to hell. They got to talking about why they were there. The Catholic priest said, "I was known as a drunk theologian. I just couldn't stay off the bottle." The Jewish rabbi said, "Yeh, well, I just loved those ham sandwiches." The New Age minister said, "I'm not in hell. In fact, I'm not even warm."Do you believe that you create evil just by thinking about it, or focusing on it? If so, you may be a New Ager. Or do you realize that there is such a thing as the Law of G-d? And want to abide by it to the best of your ability? You may be a Jew, and need to attend synagogue. Or do you recognize that your salvation is of the Lord, and have had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Then you're probably a Christian. Do we create evil just by focusing on it? Of course, but there is such a thing as people who want to... | |
